Histori

Weber-Stephen was originally founded on May 8, 1893 as Weber Bros. Metal Works.

In 1951, the original round grill charcoal grill was built by George Stephen Sr., a part owner of a metal sheet shop in Chicago who tried to fix the brazier he had used for home cooking. This grill is produced using two half-spherical metal sheets that are usually used as a buoy section built in his shop. Soon he started selling his invention, which he called 'The George's Boiler of George', which there were many requests.

Since the grill became so successful after he began selling it in 1952, Stephen formed the barbecue division of the Weber Brothers plant. In the late 1950s, Stephen bought the Weber Brothers factory and became the sole owner, devoting all his professional time to producing and selling Weber's kettle. Not long after that, Stephen changed the company's name to Weber-Stephen Products Co.

The Weber-Stephen Company produces and sells open electric grills, charcoal grills, gas grills, and charcoal smokers.

Weber Grill Restaurant

In 1989, the company opened the first Weber Grill Restaurant in Wheeling, Illinois, but apart from renovations in 2000, the site was closed in 2010. Five additional locations were built in Lombard, Illinois (1999), River North, Chicago (2002). ), Schaumburg, Illinois (2005), Indianapolis (2007), and St.Louis (2016), all operating in 2017.

While the majority stake in Weber-Stephen Products LLC was sold to BDT Capital Partners in 2010, the acquisition does not include restaurant operations. While both restaurants and outdoor cooking equipment maintain Weber's branding, two separate companies now exist. The restaurants remain owned by Stephen's family.

Ducane Co. Products

The Ducane Products Company started as Ducane Brothers Metal Fabrication in 1946. The company moved three years later to Little Ferry, New Jersey, where they produced a warm air furnace. In 1968, the name was changed to The Ducane Company and moved its operations base to Barnwell, SC. And in 1975, they started making Ducane Gas Grills. However, Ducane filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and partly was acquired by Weber-Stephens on the sale of bankruptcy in 2004 of $ 13.6 million.

Under Weber's leadership, Ducane markets propane gas and natural gas through major box house improvements and specialty outdoor products stores. In an effort to change the Ducane brand, Weber introduced "Ducane Stainless" (2006) exclusively through Home Depot, "Ducane Affinity" (2007) and "Ducane Meridian" (2007) through various channels.
