Histori
The company is privately owned by Marie Sharp, who started selling local sauces on a 400 acre farm outside Dangriga in 1981. In 1985, a factory was built to meet the ever-increasing demand, also serving as a popular tourist destination. This product is the first commercially successful agricultural product produced and exported from Belize, under the name "Melinda's Hot Sauce". Once the market for the product has been established, the distributor that markets the sauce, trademark product name, effectively cuts Sharp from its own business. After a five-year struggle, Sharp relinquished the name to Melinda in return for being exempted from his exclusive contract with the distributor and re-branded the product in his own name. Distribution has since been extended from Belize to most of Central America and North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2013, Sharp's entry at the Anuga Food Fair in Cologne made the prestigious "Taste13 Showcase" round and placed in the top three products at the world's largest food show. In 2014, Marie Sharp's sales reached $ 3.8 million. In 2016, the founder was inducted into the Hot Sauce Hall of Fame. The company also introduced their newest peppercorn sauce, inspired by Alaskan smoke products, "Smokin 'Marie's", smoked habanero sauce.

Jelly and jam
In 1982, found that agricultural land has the advantages of fruit, Sharp visited the local market to get an idea of ââwhat products he and other farmers might be able to generate to increase their sales. Discovering that all commercially produced jams, jellies and jams are made from non-tropical fruits, it recognizes opportunities. Experimenting with recipes, Sharp developed a product with a higher fruit content than the required US Food and Drug Administration and began marketing natural products made without preservatives. Marie Sharpe produces eleven types of preservatives that are marketed locally and internationally.
