During his musical career, Singleton worked with Bay Area rappers such as Luni Coleone, Too Short, Mac Dre, RBL Posse, C-Bo, E-40, Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, EA-Ski, and Myster, a rapper based in New Orleans, TQ, DJ U-Neek, Texas' Lil Keke, and Big Bone. Born in Dallas, Texas, Singleton grew up nearby in East Dallas, Texas. At the age of 7, he started writing poetry. He decided to pursue a career in rap, and began performing in 1990. In the early years of rap, Singleton tapped under the name of G-Spade, but later changed his name to Big Lurch after earning the nickname from Nubbins Sawyer. This is because of her intimidating figure, very slim and 6 foot 6 inches (reminiscent of Lurch characters from The Addams Family). In 1994, Lurch signed DTS (Deluco, Trudel, swag), who became very successful with their hit "Sideways Ice Cream".

Before killing
On September 16, 2000, one day after his 24th birthday, Singleton drove his car when a drunk driver hit him, causing his neck to snap. While in the hospital, he took a lot of medicine. During his treatment he wrote one of his songs, "Texas Boy", for his album, It's All Bad. After being released from the hospital, he had difficulty walking and still in pain. Singleton admitted, in Rhyme And Punishment, that he started using PCP to relieve pain.
Murder and lawsuits
On April 10, 2002, Singleton, 25, killed Tynisha Ysais at her Los Angeles, California apartment.
The victim was found in his apartment by a friend. His chest had been torn open and a three-inch blade was found broken on his shoulder blade. The tooth marks were found on his face and in his lungs, which had been torn from his chest. An eyewitness reported that, when Singleton was picked up by the police, he was naked, covered in blood, standing in the middle of the street, and stared up at the sky. Neighbors reported hearing "thrashing, followed by argument, when Singleton says 'Tynisha, you're a sock', and from there just yell." A medical examination was done immediately after his arrest found human flesh in his stomach that was not his. The victim's lover says she and the rapper who aspire to use the PCP the day before the alleged killing took place.
On November 7, 2003, Singleton was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He has been convicted of murder and aggravated the turmoil in June after pleading not guilty to the madness at the time of the murder. The court ruled that his poisoning and his insanity claims were not a satisfactory reason for committing a crime, after a court-appointed psychiatrist evaluating Singleton reported that he had no reason to believe Singleton was insane; three other doctors appointed by the court concluded that Singleton was crazy while committing a crime. The district attorney made a motion for a direct verdict, stating that PCP poisoning could not be used as an excuse for a mad request in California, and the judge granted it.
In 2004, Stress Free Ent. and Black Market Records released LP solos on behalf of Singleton, It's All Bad . Features include Killa Tay, C-Bo, Lil Keke, Roger Troutman II, and Too $ hort.
Ysais's mother, Carolyn Stinson, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Black Market Records, Singleton's record label. The label, in the same way, has issued an album for X-Raided while he is awaiting trial and is finally punished for murder ( Xorcist , Unforgiven, Vol. 1 , etc.). The lawsuit alleges that the label gave Singleton drugs "to encourage him to act in extreme violence so as to make him more valuable as a 'rap gangsta' artist." "Part of what makes Gangsta Rap artist marketable is the fact that the artist participates in violent activities," the lawsuit said.
Singleton was locked up in California State Prison, Los Angeles County in Lancaster, California. He was transferred to California State Jail, Sacramento (SAC). A petition for "Free Big Lurch" has been started by those who believe that his beliefs are based on indirect evidence.
Singleton is featured in the movie Rhyme and Punishment, a 2011 documentary that tells the story of hip-hop artist who has been imprisoned. In the film, Lurch talks about his beliefs and time in prison. In June 2013 Singleton is featured with others who have used PCP on a television show titled Drugs Made Me Do It . This series focuses on individuals who have simple daily lifestyles before using PCP.
Singleton is currently incarcerated in California State Prison Sacramento.
