Histori

Blamire and Davies met at school in Sussex during the late 1990s. They spent 2002 in New Orleans, where they absorbed American blues music. When they returned to England, they found British folk music at the Sidmouth Folk Week Festival while working as a car park attendant. They then settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, for a year before returning to London to begin performing.

In 2007, Smoke Fairies toured in the UK to support Bryan Ferry and the following year they released their debut single, "Living with Ghosts", in Music for Heroes. Richard Hawley was an early proponent of the act, saying that they "are frankly the best thing I've heard for years". They supported Hawley at Truelove's Gutter Tour in England in October 2009.

In December 2009, Smoke Fairies became the first British player to release a single on Jack White's label, Third Man Records. Single A-side double, "Gastown"/"River Song", produced by Jack White who also plays guitar and drums. Elven Smoke was performed in the South of 2010 by the South West (SXSW) festival in Texas and supported Laura Marling on a month long journey from the United States.

They signed a contract with V2 Records/Cooperative Music and released their debut album Through Low Light and Trees in September 2010, the latter being released alone in the United States in June 2011 through Year Seven Records. The album was produced by PJ chief collector of long-term collaborators and recorded at Sawmills Studio in Cornwall, England.

To promote the album the band was invited to record a live session for Marc Riley on BBC Radio 6. And was invited back for another session a few months later. The duo also recorded live sessions with their band for "X-Posure" John Kennedy on XFM. In November 2010, the recording of the Smoke Fairy of Neil Young "Alabama" appeared on Mojo's special album to mark the fortieth anniversary of the tenth of Young's Harvest LP.

The band embarked on their first headline tour in England - sold out - in January-February 2011 and performed at several summer festivals, including Primavera Sound in Barcelona. Before heading to the United States in June 2011 to perform at the North by Northeast Festival and their own headline event, back again in August 2011 Jessica & Katherine toured the US with Rasputina. Elven Smoke returns to the US in October to play support for Blitzen Trapper and Dawes make a beach tour to their second beach this year.

The follow-up album of Smoke Fairies, Blood Speaks , was released on May 21, 2012, again with a pending release in the US April 23, 2013. Again produced by Head Blood Speaks this time recorded on Eastcote Studio West London and was inspired by London and by traveling.

Smoke Fairies signed a contract with Full Time Hobby records in 2013 and released their self-titled album "Smoke Fairies" on April 14, 2014. The album spawned Eclipse Them All single, 'We' re Seen Birds and Shadow Inversions . It was produced by Kristofer Harris at Squarehead Studios in Kent. Later that year the band recorded a record of Christmas "Wild Winter" which was released only in Rough Trade shops Xmas 2014. Christmas after the album saw the worldwide release and received praise from the likes of the New York Times and The Guardian. "Wild Winter" is produced again by Kristofer Harris.

Jessica and Katherine also contributed vocals for the song "Valentina", an award for Valentina Tereshkova - first woman and first woman in space - on "The Race For Space", the second album by Broadcasting Public Service (band ).
