Adobe Creative Suite ( CS ) is a suite of software for graphic design, video editing, and web development applications developed by Adobe Systems. Each edition consists of several Adobe apps, for example, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere Pro or After Effects, InDesign, and Illustrator which are industry standard applications for many graphic design positions.
The last of the Creative Suite versions, Adobe Creative Suite 6 (CS6), was released on the release event on April 23, 2012, and was released on May 7, 2012. CS6 is the last of Adobe's design tools to be physically shipped as a software box as a model for future releases and updates will be sent only via download.
On May 6, 2013, Adobe announced that CS6 will be the latest version of Creative Suite, and that their future versions of creative software will only be available through their Adobe Creative Cloud subscription model. Adobe also announced that it will continue to support CS6 and will provide bug fixes and security updates through the next major upgrade of both Mac and Windows operating systems (in 2013). The Creative Suite package is withdrawn from Adobe's online store in 2013, but is still available on their website until January 2017.

By 2015, after acquiring Fotolia's microstock company, Adobe has once again launched a photography service a stock called Adobe Stock along with its Creative Cloud service.

Issue
Adobe sells Creative Suite apps in several different combinations called "editions", these include:
- Adobe Creative Suite 6 Standard Design is an edition of the Adobe Creative Suite 6 product family designated for professional print, web, interactive, and mobile printers.
- Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & amp; Premium Web is an edition of the Adobe Creative Suite 6 product suite devoted to professional web designers and developers.
- Adobe Creative Suite 6 Premium Production is an edition of the Adobe Creative Suite 6 product family devoted to rich media professionals and post-production video experts who create projects for movies, videos, broadcasts, web, DVDs , Blu-ray Disc, and mobile devices.
- Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection contains apps from all editions above
Adobe Flash catalyst, Adobe Contribution, Adobe OnLocation, and Adobe Device Central, previously available in CS5.5, have been removed from the CS6 list. Adobe Prelude and Adobe Encore are not released as stand-alone products. Adobe Encore is available as part of Adobe Premiere Pro. Adobe InCopy, a word processing application integrated with Adobe InDesign, is also part of the Creative Suite family, but is not included in any CS6 edition.
In March 2013, it was reported that Adobe will no longer sell a box of copies of the Creative Suite software, but instead offers digital downloads and monthly subscriptions.

Due to Adobe's closure of the CS2 activation server on December 15, 2012, Adobe offers CS2 users an opportunity to download a version of CS2 that no longer requires Adobe server authorization in January 2013. This release is intended to enable existing CS2 users to reinstall licensed copies them without the need for authorization from the currently closed server. Adobe publishes serial numbers on January 8, 2013 but only on January 24, 2013, Adobe announces that the download is only for people who "buy CS2" legally. Many users ignore this announcement, or are unaware of it, and continue to treat CS2 as freeware or abandonware.

After the Macromedia 2005 acquisition of Adobe, Macromedia Studio 8 was replaced, modified, and integrated into two editions of Adobe Creative Suite software from version 2.3 and beyond. The closest relative of Macromedia Studio 8 is now called Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium .
The core applications of Macromedia Studio have been incorporated with Adobe Creative Suite since CS3, including Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. Some Macromedia applications are absorbed into existing Adobe products, e.g. FreeHand has been replaced with Adobe Illustrator. Directed and ColdFusion are not part of Adobe Creative Suite and will only be available as stand-alone products. The latest versions of Macromedia Studio released include:
- Macromedia Studio MX Released May 29, 2002, internally is the 6th version and the first incarnation of the studio to use the "MX" suffix, which for marketing purposes stands for "shorts". Studio MX includes Dreamweaver, Flash, FreeHand, Fireworks and ColdFusion developer editions.

Creative Suite 3
Adobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) was announced on March 27, 2007; it introduces universal binaries for all major programs for Apple Macintosh, as well as includes all the core applications of Macromedia Studio and Production Studio.
Some Creative Suite programs also start using the Presto layout engine used in the Opera web browser.
Adobe began selling CS3 applications in six different combinations called "editions." Design & amp; Premium and Web Standards & amp; Premium started shipping on April 16, 2007, and the Premium Production and Master Collection edition began shipping on July 2, 2007. The latest version released by CS3 is version 3.3, released on June 2, 2008. In this version Fireworks CS3 is included in Premium Design and all editions which has included Acrobat 8 âââ ⬠<â ⬠CS3 includes several programs, including Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks developed by Macromedia, a former rival acquired by Adobe in 2005. It also includes Adobe OnLocation and Adobe Ultra developed by Serious Magic, also a company acquired by Adobe in 2006. Adobe dropped the following programs (previously included in CS2) from the CS3 software bundle:
Adobe has announced that it will continue to develop Audition as a stand-alone product, while GoLive has been discontinued. Adobe GoLive 9 was released as a standalone product on June 10, 2007. Adobe Audition 3 was announced as a stand-alone product on September 6, 2007. Adobe has stopped ImageReady and has replaced it with Fireworks, with some ImageReady features integrated into Photoshop.
Creative Suite 4
Adobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) was announced on September 23, 2008 and officially released on October 15, 2008. All applications in CS4 display the same user interface, with a new tab interface to work with simultaneous Adobe CS4 programs where multiple documents can be opened in many tabs in one window.
Adobe CS4 is also being developed to work better under 64-bit and multi-core processors. In MS Windows, Adobe Photoshop CS4 runs natively as a 64-bit application. Although they are not 64-bit applications, Adobe After Effects CS4 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 have been optimized for 64-bit computers. However, no 64-bit version of CS4 is available for Mac OS X. In the initial 64-bit support test in Adobe Photoshop CS4, the overall performance improvement ranged from 8% to 12%, due to the fact that 64-bit applications can overcome the amount of memory which is larger and thus results in less swapping of files - one of the biggest factors that can affect the speed of data processing.
Two programs dropped from the CS4 line-up: Adobe Ultra, a vector locking application that utilizes image analysis technology to produce high-quality chroma lock effects in less-than-ideal lighting environments and provides subject locking into virtual 3D environments via virtual technology set, and Adobe Stock Photos. Below is the application matrix bundled in each software suite for CS4:
Creative Suite 5
Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) was released on April 30, 2010. From CS5 and beyond, Windows versions of Adobe Premiere CS5 and Adobe After Effects CS5 are only 64-bit and require at least 64-bit or newer 64-bit Windows Vista. Windows version. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is no longer supported. Adobe Version Cue, an application that allows users to track and manipulate file metadata and automate the collaborative process of reviewing documents among a group of people, and the edition of Adobe Creative Suite Web Standards , previously available in CS4, is down from the list CS5. Below is the matrix of applications bundled in each software suite for CS5:
Creative Suite 5.5
After the launch of CS5 in April 2010, Adobe changed its release strategy to release each year from major number installments. CS5.5 was presented on April 12, 2011, as a program in between to CS6. This update helps developers optimize websites for different tablets, smartphones and other devices. At the same time, Adobe announced a subscription-based payment service as an alternative to full purchase. On July 1, 2011, Adobe Systems announced its Switcher Program, which will allow people who have purchased an Apple Cut Final Pro (or Avid Media Composer) version to receive a 50 percent discount on Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium or Premiere Pro CS5.5.
Not all products are upgraded to CS5.5 in this release; enhanced applications to CS5.5 include Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash Catalyst, Adobe Flash Professional, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Device Central. Adobe Audition also replaces Adobe Soundbooth in CS5.5, Adobe Story was first offered as an AIR-powered preproduction and preview application, and Adobe Acrobat X Pro replaces Acrobat 9.3 Pro. Below is the matrix of applications bundled in each software suite for CS5.5:
Creative Suite 6
During an Adobe conference call on June 21, 2011, CEO Shantanu Narayen said that the launch of CS5.5 April 2011 was "the first release in our transition to the annual release cycle", adding, "We intend to post the next milestone release of Creative Suite in 2012." On March 21, 2012, Adobe released a beta version of Adobe Photoshop CS6 that is available for free. The final version of Adobe CS6 was launched at the April 23, 2012 release event, and was first delivered on May 7th. Adobe also launched a subscription-based offer called Adobe Creative Cloud where users can gain access to individual apps or full Adobe Creative Suite 6 suites per month, plus storage space and additional storage services.
Termination
On May 5, 2013, during the opening of its Adobe MAX conference core, Adobe announced that it suspended the "Creative Suite" brand that supports "Creative Cloud", and made all future feature updates to its software (now added with "CC" instead of "CS", eg Photoshop CC) is available through Cloud Creative subscription services rather than through the purchase of perpetual licenses.
Customers must pay a subscription fee and if they stop paying, they will lose access to proprietary file formats, which are not backwards compatible with Creative Suite (Adobe acknowledges that this is a valid matter). The individual customer must have an Internet connection to download the software and use 2 GB of storage space provided (or additional purchased 20 GB), and must validate the license every month.
Adobe's decision to make the subscription service the only selling route for its creative software is filled with harsh criticism (see Creative Cloud Controversy). Some online articles are beginning to offer Photoshop, Illustrator, and other programs, with free software such as GIMP and Inkscape or competing products like CorelDRAW, PaintShop Pro, and Pixelmator that offer immediate alternatives.
In addition to many products that were previously part of the Creative Suite (one product, Fireworks, announced to have reached the end of its development cycle), Creative Cloud also offers exclusive subscription products such as Adobe Muse and Adobe Edge family, Web Files and website hosting, Typekit fonts , and access to Behance's social media platform. The new CC version of the app, and the full launch of the updated Creative Cloud service, was announced for June 17, 2013. New versions with major feature updates have been released regularly, with file format refreshes taking place in October 2014. Adobe also announced that they will continue offer bug fixes for CS6 products so they will continue running on versions of Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X.
