Blackberry Smoke: Southern Rock Will Rise Again | No Depression

Smoke Rise is an American progressive rock band from 1969-1972. In 1970, they created the first American Rock Opera, The Survival of St. Joan , based on the game and libretto by James Lineberger and produced by Oscar winners Stephen Schwartz and Dave Blume. The concept album of the 2-record set with libretto was published in 1971 by Paramount Records (PAS-9000). Smoke Rise is known as a very melodic group with harmony 3 and 4 smooth parts, guitar solo and filling, and a tight rhythm section that shook with the best groups in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Murray Abraham, is also a member of the cast.
