Careers
Rebagliati was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. After turning pro in 1991, he was the first to win an Olympic gold medal for Snowboarding Men at the 1998 Winter Olympics. After winning gold, he was found to have Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his circulatory system following a blood test and he was automatically disqualified. This decision was eventually canceled, largely on the grounds that marijuana was not included in the list of prohibited substances, and Rebagliati was given back medals. The next day she appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and became an instant icon for many people globally. THC has been registered by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as a prohibited substance. But by 2013, WADA changed its rules on marijuana, raising the threshold for positive tests from 15 nanograms per milliliter to 150 ng/ml. In 1998 at Nagano Games, Rebagliati recorded a level of 17.8 ng/ml, and argued that the test resulted from passive smokers, which he still says. Ben Nichols, a spokesman for WADA, said raising the threshold is intended to capture only athletes who smoke during the competition period. The drug is not prohibited out of competition.
Since that day, Ross has become a cultural phenomenon in the world of marijuana and is a supporter of vocal medical marijuana. Rebagliati has been involved in multi-million dollar real estate development projects across British Columbia, as well as housing development. Rebagliati is the subject of full-page coverage in the July 14, 2008 edition of Sports Illustrated, which describes his life since his Olympic triumph.

At that time, political observers stated that this could be a difficult challenge for former Olympic athletes, as the chair was held by International Trade Minister Stockwell Day. Finally he bowed when his business venture took him home to Whistler.

Medical cannabis as a performance-enhancing drug
According to the Washington Post, there is widespread agreement that marijuana can place users in a relaxed and positive frame of mind (though some may experience feelings of anxiety and paranoia), and for that reason, it can be regarded as a performance enhancing drug, giving athletes the peace and confidence may not have. A 2006 article in the British Journal of Sports Medicine states that THC, the main psychoactive compound in marijuana, "gives rise to certain weight, marked relaxation, and excessive fatigue in limbs." The article also notes that, since the product is usually smoked, the practice can have "adverse effects on the lungs, oral cavity, and upper respiratory tract."
Ross Rebagliati strongly believes that marijuana is a performance enhancer, and that use can be useful for some activities such as extreme sports, as it can increase muscle relaxation, reduce anxiety, and wipe out fears of memories (eg, negative experiences) leading to improved performance.. It also improves bedtime and recovery, which can support performance when an athlete faces some competition in a short period of time.
Ross Rebagliati believes that Cannabis has many benefits that the CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the largest. CBD has a very strong anti-inflammatory properties. Reducing inflammation helps to better manage the pain and pain experienced by the athlete's body in a chronic way. It also has a calming effect reducing stress and anxiety which are two more facts of being an athlete.
