Mongolian Beef (Chinese: ???? ; pinyin: MÃÆ'à © ngg? niÃÆ'úrÃÆ'òu ) is a dish served in Chinese-American and Chinese-Australian restaurants consisting of sliced ââbeef, usually a pelvic steak, and sauteed with vegetables in a savory chocolate sauce, usually made with hoisin sauce , soy sauce, and chili. Beef is generally paired with scallions or mixed vegetables and often not spicy. This dish is often served over white rice, or in the US, on top of crispy plastic fried noodles.
Mongolian beef is one of the meat dishes developed in Taiwan where Mongolian barbecue restaurant first appeared. Thus, no ingredients or preparation methods are taken from traditional Mongolian cuisine.
