Ford Mustang variants - Wikiwand
src: upload.wikimedia.org

Ford and several third-party companies offer many modified versions of the hugely popular Mustang to serve a particular part of the market outside the mainstream. High-performance enthusiasts seek stronger, sharper, sport-car handling, while collectors and purists seek limited production and alternative or nostalgic styles, as is commonly found in many warning editions. However, others were made purely for experimental concepts such as McLaren M81 (turbo) and SVO, which subsequently influenced the design of the production model. Most variants include performance improvements, and unique cosmetic treatments that are usually minimal to maintain a familiar Mustang appearance. While most Mustang variants are intended for fans, the exception is the Special Service Pack (or SSP), designed specifically for law enforcement.

Third party modifications

Shelby Mustang

Carroll Shelby's car racer converts a conventional Mustang into a serious track racer designated as "GT-350". In addition, short hoods and rear seats that have been removed with trim that identify are one visual variation. The selected Mustang converted to street, street racing, and dragged cars at the Shelby plant at Los Angeles International Airport.

Shelby GT-H

The GT-H 2006 was built as a 40-year Hertz rental model as a tribute to the GT350-H in 1966. GT-H is an exclusive Shelby-style GT that is also used as a concept for the planned GT Shelby, released in summer 2007. After the success of the Shelby coupe GT-H 2006, a 2007 GT-H convertible was released, 500 produced.

Shelby GT500KR

In 1968, Ford offered a special edition Shelby Mustang, called GT500KR, which stands for King of the Road. That's 428 c.i. Cobra Jet engine was introduced in the same year. In early 2007, Shelby announced that it would release a new GT500KR based on the S-197 Mustangs for the 2009 model year. The package was only available through Shelby for all 05 S-197s based on GT500. The K.I.T.T. in the 2008 TV trial film Knight Rider is the modified Shelby GT500KR black Mustang.

Shelby CS6/8

After 35 years, in 2005, Carroll Shelby built his first Ford Shelby Masterpiece, CSM No. 00001, CS6 V6, generates 380HP. Ford renewed their contract with Shelby. Shelby along with Paxton also designed a new variant based on the Mustang V6. Modifications include a supercharged motor producing 350 horsepower (260 kW). 20 "wheels bearing the Shelby and Cobra moniker names on each side and decklid.2" Suspension suspension, 14-inch Baer/Shelby front and rear brakes and aggressive front fascia along with dual exhaust. Shelby also created CS8, a 4.6-liter V8 variant of CS6. Shelby CS6/8 is not available as a factory release, but Shelby has made the CS6/8 kit available for purchase online for a very short time, only a handful sold, making it one of the rarest Shelbys in the world..

Shelby GT500E

Due to the popularity of 2000's Gone in 60 Seconds remake film and the popularity of Eleanor, a number of auto shops started producing copyrighted characters Eleanor and Denice Shakarian Halicki again had to resort to legal action. to protect the trademark and image of Eleanor's copyright characters. In 2008, Denice wins the case against Carroll Shelby, who has sold "Eleanor". In 2008, the appeals court stated that Eleanor is a copyright-protected character and that includes his image, a one-of-a-kind special view.

Roush

Jack Roush Performance Engineering, founded by former Ford engineer Jack Roush in 1976, has been known for providing racing, vehicle and engine parts. In 1995, Roush Performance Products was formed by offering aftermarket performance components, vehicles, and crate engines for road use. The company introduced three packages for Mustang. Stage 1 comes with 17-inch wheels (430 mm), lower suspension and exhaust system mounted on the side. In addition, it comes with air dams, side skirts and rear spoiler. Phase 2 is Phase 1 which is enhanced with 18-inch alloy wheels (460 mm) and BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires. The suspension is widely modified with Bilstein shocks, high-grade springs, rigid anti-roll bars and new control arm. Roush claims it achieves 1.0g lateral acceleration and is equivalent to a Porsche 911 Turbo. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 come with V6 or V8 engine options. The top of the line is Phase 3, with 360Ã, hp (268 kW) and 375Ã, ft Ã, Â · lbf (508 Nm) of torque. Platform Stage 3 is basically a highly modified Mustang GT. Ford 4.6L V8 is enhanced with Eaton supercharger, new intake manifold, high performance fuel injector, air-to-air intercooler and lighter flywheel (manual transmission only). Stage 3 is available in three packages: Sport, Rally, and Premium.

In 2004, Roush released a limited edition mustang known as 440A. This is a Stage 3 Roush with additional custom 440A interior, Roush braking system, and rear exhaust system in place of a side exhaust system. The 440A model was released in 2004 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Ford Mustang production. Only 40 Roush 440A Mustangs are manufactured and all sold at a dealer in Florida. Roush also claims that this model produces 400 hp (300 kW), a claim that has been debated by some who claim that the dyno machine was tested at 360 hp (268 kW).

In 2005, based on the S-197 Mustang, Roush introduced the Sport, Stage 1 and Stage 2 editions. In 2006, the Phase 3 edition was introduced. The Sport package is Roush's basic model, and is equipped with a high-performance body kit and exhaust system. Stage 1 comes with 18-inch (460 mm) chrome wheels and aggressive tires, high performance exhaust systems, body kits, and a wide selection menu for visual enhancement. Phase 2 enhances Phase 1 by increasing stock suspensions with high-performance front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs, front and rear shake, and pinion snubbers. Stage 3 comes with 18-inch (460 mm), forged chrome wheels and high-performance tires, and a 14-inch (360 mm) rotor with four-piston Stop-Tech produces calipers, in addition to many "Stage 3" plaques, embroidery leather seats custom, and custom dash instrument clusters. The Eaton M90 supercharged 4.6L V8 now has an output of 415 hp (268.4 kW) and 385 ft  · lb (521 Nm) with a Roush supercharger and an air-to-air intercooler. The top of the line is the Stage 3 Mustang, but Roush admits that many buyers do not want all the features (especially cosmetics) offered Stage 3, so starting in 2007, Roush introduced the 427R. The 427R displays the same suspension, power-train, and most body-kit from Stage 3, but lacks the rear fascia and rectangular exhaust edges of various Stage models. It produces an additional 20-horsepower (14.91 kW) and 15Ã, ft? Lbf (20Ã, N? M) torque over Stage 3 Mustang, due to the increase in ECM (electronic control module). In addition, it is equipped with a "hockey stick stripe" appearance pack as a replacement for the two racing lines found in Sport through Stage 3 models. In 2008, Roush produced a 428R Mustang limited edition (followed by a limited edition 429R Mustang in 2009), which was the same concept as the previous 427R, but featured a horizontal nine bar grille, a sparco captive hood pin, and a chrome conveyor pump. Four and six-piston brakes are an option on both cars, but not standard. Also, in 2007 and 2008, Roush produced 100 Blackjack Mustang annually black all-time, and top shelf P-51A and mustang P-51B. These cars feature the Vapor Silver/green paint scheme, accented with a Satin Silver hood spoon, chin spoiler and rear wing (in homage to the P-51 Mustang WW-II fighter). The internal engine is upgraded to a forged spinning assembly, enabling the larger Eaton TVS R2300 supercharger. It produces 510 crank horsepower and 510 foot pounds of torque. The difference between model A and B is the belt drive for the supercharger - series A uses a single belt, the B series uses a front-end accessory drive (FEAD) double belt system. Other Roush cars produced in this era are the TrasPak Roush 427R which only existed in 2008, with improved suspension components, forged wheels and large APC carbon fiber wing, Roush Drag-Pak Mustangs, and various one-offs for Cooper Tires and certain dealers of Roush products.

Steeda

Based in Pompano Beach, Florida, Dario Orlando founded Steeda Autosports in 1988 using years of experience improving and racing cars. Steeda is one of the largest aftermarket parts manufacturers.

Originally a simple Ford-based racing team, they introduced the first "Steeda GT" in 1998. The Steeda GT is a low-production car with mostly handle and braking upgrades, including the "Steeda Ultralite" wheels, which repackaged Konig Villains. A cool air kit, underdrive pulley, rear wing, custom side line "Sidewinder", and some small computer tuning adds a little over $ 5,500 to the standard GT Mustang price.

In 2000, prior to the introduction of the Q400, Steeda GT was given a front splitter, which helped keep New Edge Mustangs newly planted on the ground, and became a popular aftermarket addition. This remains the only offer from Steeda through the 2002 model.

In 2003 Steeda introduced the Q400, based on the Mustang GT with 400 hp advertised (298 kW). The 4.6L V8 in Q400 has been modified with Vortech (or Paxton) centrifugal supercharger, K & amp; N Filter, Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP) 70 mm throttle body, and aluminum HD radiator. Fuel is supplied via twin Bosch pumps, and a 2.5-inch (64 mm) Steefa-spec Steele-spec pipe and muffler. Motor Trend magazine conducts a dynamometer test on Q400. Their Q400 produces 425 hp (317 kW) from the rear wheels, and 450 hp (335 kW) from the flywheel.

In 2006, Steeda introduced the Q525. Equipped with a modular 5.0L V8, it produces 500 hp (373 kW) and 530 ft ft  · lbf (719 Nm) of torque, thanks to Steeda/MagnaCharger supercharger system with intercooler, 62 mm twin-bore throttle body, Stighta/SCT air gauge, electronic fuel injector  £ 60 (27 kg) and Steeda Feed Kit.

2018, Steeda celebrates over 30 years in the market, leading in the aftermarket performance of Mustang. Steeda specializes in Ford Mustang, F-150, Focus, Fusion, and other variants. By operating in Valdosta, GA and Pompano Beach, FL - Steeda has made significant investments in manufacturing Made America.

Saleen

Saleen was founded by racer Steve Saleen in 1983, the first model produced in 1984. The first Saleens were mainly focused on handling performance and using Ford's engine stock. Ras Saleen has won with his Mustangs including 24 hours race from Le Mans and Daytona, as well as many SCCA championships. Saleen Mustangs comes in two main categories - the S281, which features Ford Modular 4.6L 281CI V-8, and the S351, which has 351ci 5.8L Windsor V-8 installed. There is a supercharged version of both. "S351 is available from 1994 to 1999. For the 5th generation Mustang, Saleen's top model is the S302 Extreme, where they have replaced the 4.6-liter factory with the Saleen-built V8 engine, boosting power to nearly 620 hp.

In 2007, Saleen and retired Parnelli Jones rider made the limited edition Mustang. Although often called Saleen/Parnelli Jones S302, it was designed to pay homage to the legendary Boss 302 that Jones returned in the 1970s. Equipped with Saleen MOD 302 cid 3-valve V8, S302 produces 400Ã, hp (300Ã, kW) and 390Ã, lb? Ft (529Ã, N? M). Production of this car is limited to only 500 cars.

Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters

Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition (2009)

The Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition is a limited edition (45 units) that commemorates the 45 year Ford Mustang. Named for Lee Iacocca who helped develop and introduce Mustang, this edition is based on the 2009 Mustang platform. It was created and designed by Michael Leone (I Legacy and Michael Leone Design) and built by California-based Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters coachbuilding company. Despite its build status, it carries a factory engine and a Ford Racing Package warranty. Iacocca was given a car 1 of 45. The others sold for $ 352,000 at auction.

Ford T-5

In addition to selling Mustangs in North America, Ford sees the importance of marketing sports cars abroad as well, especially for American military personnel. However, the name "Mustang" is the copyright of a small Krupp truck manufacturer in Germany, which prevents Ford from using that name there. Therefore, Ford re-bind Mustang is bound to export to Germany under the name T-5. All references to Mustang names, including steering hubs, side nameplates, grille, and rear fuel filler, are empty, replaced with the word "FORD" only. The "T-5" emblem adorns the front fender behind the wheel, where the signboard "Mustang" (and the horse symbol) is located on another Mustangs.

Other than this, they are exactly the same as Mustangs in other places. Almost all models and packages for Mustang are available for T-5 including GT. After 1978, the Krupp brand rights on behalf of the Mustang expired, so all Mustangs were imported into Germany after 1979 defending the Mustang name.

The T-5 designation was also applied to 13 prototypes built before the first generation Mustang went into production. The Ford Mustang II 1963 concept car also briefly contains T-5 tagging. In 1962, Ford Vice President Lee Iacocca led the Fairlane Group (committee of Ford executives and managers) to work on the front engine design, four seats, known as the T-5 in the language of the company, and later, the Mustang. To speed up development, Ford Falcon and Fairlane components are used. Almost the only remaining design element of the original Mustang I is a fake grille that re-creates a radiator spoon from two seats, and its name, emblazoned on its side panel as the "Mustang" stout logo.

High Country Only

The High Country Mustangs were created from 1966 (333), 1967 (400) and 1968 (251), as a special promotional vehicle for Ford dealers in the Colorado region, the first two years of Special High Country no more than special exterior colors and triangular HCS Emblem for all body styles. For '68, HCS became the hardtop only and borrowed the front headlamps, sidescoops, and Shelby care on the back so as not to be confused with the 1968 Special Challenger which only came with a standard tail housing.

Custom Skiing Countries

The Ski Country Special is a special area, promotional package of agents available in the winter of 1967 and not limited to the Mustang line. The combination of features that identify Ski Country Special are: ski racks, "coffee bar" (luggage rack), unlimited axle slip, unique emblem and two snow tires. The SCS package also includes five new colors: "Vail Blue", "Aspen Red", "Winter Park Turquoise", "Loveland Green" and "Breckenridge Yellow".

Challenger Special

In mid-April 1968, Ford Dealers Mississippi DSO 64 (New Orleans) began offering Mustang dealers, limited edition, called Challenger, or "Challenger Special". The concept is for 302 4v power packing in ordinary wrap coupe, in rare cases they are equipped with Shelby manifolds and 4118 Holley carburetors. At the end of April, at least 7 units came with 289 4v obsolescence while in the beginning to mid-May 1968 they included 21 units of 154 which were all J-code 302 4v with speed 3 specifically directed in the "lightweight" chassis (no power) option , aluminum intake, no a/c). The power-to-weight ratio at Challenger gives budget-minded buyers the opportunity to run Shelby Model at no cost. A similar 289/302 4v performance model was offered by dealers at other DSOs during the 1968 model year, including some convertibles and fastbacks in addition to the coup.

Mustang Cobra II

Cobra II was produced from 1976 to the end of production for the Mustang II in 1978. Cobra II is an appearance package only and does not offer actual performance improvements; it is available with 2.3L four-cylinder and 2.8L V6 in addition to 5.0L engine 302 V8. In 1976 and most of 1977, the Cobra II package was installed by Motortown Corporation for Ford. Beginning in late 1977 Ford installed its own Cobra II package, this continued until the end of production in 1978.

King Cobra

King Cobra was produced only for 1978. King Cobra is only available with 5.0L V8 engine, and is the first Mustang to carry the 5.0 badge.

McLaren M81

Mustang SVT Cobra

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was built by Ford from 1993 to 2004. SVT Cobra represents the highest performance version of Mustang built by Ford, which is in the model range above the Mustang GT model. On rare occasions, Ford produces high-performance Cobra R variants.

Mustang SVO

Introduced for the 1984 model year, SVO is meant to be a model that will rebuild the Mustang as a modern sports coupe and provide competitors to the compact European and Japanese compact coupe today. The project became the first for Ford's new SVO division, which gave the car some modifications to the suspension and drive train. Power comes from the latest version and modified Ford's 2.1 liter OHC inline four-cylinder engine, featuring a new computer-controlled fuel injection system, and an inter-turbocharger. The power output for the starting unit is 175 horsepower (130 kW), excellent for the day, giving the vehicle a strong 0-60 time with the help of a factory fitted Hurst shifter. Updates for the final production car increased power ratings by up to 205 hp (153 kW) and torque to 245 lb ft (332 N m) by mid 1985 and revised to 200 in '86.

1996 Mustang "Mystic" Cobra

Mystic, Mystichrome, dan Mystic Gold SVT Cobra

1996 SVT Mystic Cobra

In 1996 Ford approved a new paint technology made by BASF to be exhibited on a limited number of SVT Cobras. This paint is called "Mystic". Depending on the viewer angle in relation to the car, or the angle of light that hit the surface, the paint will actually appear to have changed color. This change of color changes from almost black black to emerald green, violet blue, magenta, burgundy, yellow/gold, even chocolate is almost "root-beer".

Unlike other paints that create special effects by using a mixture of pigments or complicated multi-layered applications of different paint colors, Mystic achieves dramatic color change capability through tiny transparent plated flakes in paint chemistry that act like a prism to break white light into its various colored components. Traditional black paint pigments use a special line of color interference pigments made by Flex Products, Inc. called ChromaFlair pigments. You can learn more about the ChromaFlair color pigment line by logging into their website.

2000 Mystic Gold Cobra Mystic Gold Cobra Although Mystic paint is specially made for Cobra 1996 and never made again since then there has been a lot of color variations of paint shifts being made. After the production of Mystic Cobra BASF creates one of Saleen Speedster using Mystic color variations to be awarded in the contest "Horses Of Different Colors". From there, Saleen added colors to their Mustang range called "Saleen Extreme" which is a much lighter version of the Mystic color change color. With a price of over $ 11,000, this is a pretty expensive option, but the unique one remains.

Since then Ford has released two more Mustang Cobra with various variations of Mystic theme. The first came in 2000 and was called Mystic Gold. In most corners, Mystic Gold looks brightly lit gold, but under the right light will turn into a bright yellow or green color. Unfortunately, the 2000 Cobra never made it to production due to problems with Cobra 1999 and with it he died Mystic Gold.

2004 Mystichrome Cobra 2004 Mystichrome Cobra

In 2004 SVT released another "Mystic" Cobra this time which resulted in a color shift from a metallic topaz that transitions into cobalt blue, then into royal purple, and eventually becomes a deep black onyx. The color of Ford and the trim director for North America Alan Eggly describes a new paint color like this, "The bright colors and colors remind me of the heat-drained exhaust header," So he dubbed the new paint "Mystichrome".

The new car is added to the extreme look of the Mystic Cobra by adding a unique feature beyond the paint itself, colored leather interior. Satisfied with the exterior hue, Eggly and Ford Special Vehicle Team turned their attention to the interior. "The interior needs something special to complement the stunning exterior," says Eggly. "We consider spraying hard parts, such as a central handle or door handle, with Mystichrome paint, and then I remember a Ford State Tanning (GST) supplier, has developed a skin colored with ChromaFlair pigments." According to Eggly "Cat and interior trim perfectly complement the dramatic style and explosive performance of SVT Mustang Cobra." Only 1010 Mystchrome Cobras were produced for the 2004 production year with 515 in coupe and 495 in convertible.

Custom Service Packages (SSP)

In 1982, the California Highway Patrol asked Ford to produce a qualified and lightweight police car due to the current number of police cars such as Ford Fairmont and LTD/Crown Victoria. Using Mustang Version 5.0 Fox in production at the time, Ford produced the Ford Mustang SSP (Service Package), and modified it to suit the needs of the police and law enforcement departments. Nearly 15,000 of these special units were made from 1982 until their cessation in 1993.

Spring Feature Edition

In 2000, a unique version called "Spring Feature" was available on the GT model. Only offered in Performance Red, Black, Silver, White, or Zinc Yellow, the Spring Features Pack contains 17-inch wheels and performance tires, body-colored hood scoops, body-colored side scoops, two black "GT" lines on the hood , and the black "Mustang" inserts on the embossed bumper. Ford produces 3,091 Spring Feature GTs.

Special Edition 2000 Mustang GT is called the Spring Feature Mustang; all 3,091 units received the same side channel and hood cap as the 35th Limited Edition GT, as well as the black Mustang bumper inserts, double black lines on the hood with the GT on it, and the bright wheels are 17 "by 8". The Spring 2000 Mustang feature is the only one offered in Zinc Yellow, a feature that will return to all the Ford Mustang 2001.

Bullitt

In 2001, Ford partnered with Warner Bros.. to offer its special version of the GT with the Bullitt platter, honoring the 1968 390 fastback model driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt That became famous for its high speed chase scenes. The car is designed as a good handler so it is lowered 3/4 inch, receives Tokico shock, and short-length sub-frame connector. In addition, the new intake design, high flow mufflers, and special pulleys underdrive help boost power to 265Ã, conservative hp (198 kW), although many owners report closer numbers to the 270-275 range. More storytelling is the torque curve, which is much better than the basic GT model, 90% of its 305Ã, Â £ lb (414 N m) is available from 2000 rpm. The wider torque curve makes itself known in drag strips, as this special edition Mustang can cover 1/4 mile in 2-3 tenths of a second faster and about 2 mph (3 km/h) faster than the regular GT. 17-inch American Racing Torq-Thrust style rims, wrapped in performance rubber 245/45ZR by Goodyear, which reminds them of the car driven by McQueen in the film. The Bullitt features a large hood spoon reminiscent of a previous Boss 429 spoon, as well as a new side spoon, bottom body mold and a C-pillar with a unique rear-side window shape. Other special features on Bullitt include aluminum pedals and shifter, gauges facade and upholstery upholstery patterned after the 1968 model, red brake calipers with Mustang logo on them, and regular removal of spoilers and fog lights. found in Mustang GTs, all for a cleaner look. Braking is also enhanced with the addition of a dual piston PBR brake with a 13 inch (330 mm) rotors, the same brake used by 94-04 Mustang Cobra.

The Bullitt Mustang is offered in just three colors: Dark Highland Green (the same green color used in the famous movie "Bullitt" starring Steve McQueen), Black, and True Blue. Total production is 5,582 units (3,041 Dark Highland Green, 1,819 Black, and 722 True Blue).

Bullitt 2008-2009 edition has been released as well. Exterior features include the unique Torq-Thrust-style wheel and the release of the decklid spoiler and all the badges except the faux gas cap, which is replaced with a special Bullitt unit. Inside, there are door frames, gauges, and steering wheel-mounted Bullitt, engine-turned aluminum dashboard panels, aluminum switching knobs and pedals, and GT500 inspired front seats and GT500 inspired steering wheel with black stitching. Mustang's first factory, an open-air element filter, a unique exhaust that mimics the Fastback sound of the Steve McQueen GT 390 and ends with a 3.5-inch tip, and the new engine program increases horsepower by 315 (up from 300). Tremec 5-speed manual and 3.73: 1 ratio of rear axle staying down 0-60 mph times to 4.9- 5.0 seconds compared to standard GT 5.2-5.3, and quarter mile comes in 13, 8 seconds at 102 mph (164 km/h). The suspension is enhanced by brace components and retuned the Bullitt-badged front suspension which drops the vehicle height by 6 millimeters (0.24 inches). The Bullitt package is a $ 3,310 upgrade from the standard Premium GT.

Warriors in Pink

Starting in 2007, Ford and ESSENCE have partnered with Susan G. Komen for Cure to create the Circle of Promise campaign, which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer in African-American women. Among the campaigns, Ford produced 2,500 cars with Laskar in the Pink Package. The 2008 Warriors in Pink package is based on V6 Premium Arraycoupe or convertible, but with pink ribbon and Pony fender badges, pink Mustang striped stripes, charcoal coatings with pink stitches, aluminum-spoke steering wheel on leather with pink stitching and charcoal floormats with pink ribbon and contrasting stitches.

In addition, there is a raffle to win a custom version of Warriors in Pink vehicle, made by Galpin Auto Sports.

For the 2009 model year, Warriors in Pink car production was reduced to 1000, launched at the New York International Auto Show.

Mach 1

Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a Ford Mustang performance model that Ford produced starting in 1969. Initial production from Mach 1 ended in 1978.

In 2003 and 2004 the plate name "Mach 1" returned. Ford introduced the new Mach 1 to maintain the current Mustang interest until the launch of the S-197 with another special edition Mustang. The Mach 1 uses non-supercharged aluminum blocks with DOHC with only cranks being forged on manual models. Cobra uses 4.6 DOHC V8 as well, but it is a forged iron block with internal and supercharger, they generally mistakenly have the same block. It was conservatively rated at 305Ã, hp (310Ã, hp in 2004). Other special features include "retro" interior styling, with seats made to look like "comfortweave" chairs at the original Mach 1s, old style gauges, and aluminum pedals and shifter. Outside, Mach 1 features a striping package and a dark spoiler designed to emulate the Mach 1 wheel, the 17-inch (430 mm) "Magnum 500" style, and the "shaker" hoodscoop. The "Shaker" is so named because it is attached to the engine and pokes out through the hole in the hood, and will move with motor torque. Ford used the same cast for the new "Shaker" they had for the 1969 model. Despite having camshafts that generate power at lower rpm, the Mach 1 engine generates a power of '01 Cobra, partly for the revised 4-valve head, and increased compression from 9.85: 1 to 10: 1. The Mach 1 is also equipped with 3.55: 1 rear gear, making it very low 13-second 1/4 mile ET and trap speed ~ 106 mph with an experienced drag driver.

Mustang Club of America Edition

In 2011, Ford introduced the Mustang Club of America edition, code 203, for the Mustang V-6 and the conversion. A package of appearances, he adds special side lines, a blackout line between tail lights, billet grilles, and a metallic gray 18-inch wheel. The package is only available in Premium V-6 trim, and has been offered since the conception on the V-6 model. Code 203 for Mustang is the most common for the 2011 model year.

Birthday edition

Ford celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Mustang in 1984 by issuing a limited edition GT model under the GT-350 designation. The GT-350 name has not been used since the last Shelby Mustang was produced in 1970. The GT-350 can be ordered either in a hatchback style or a convertible body driven by a high performance 302cid V8 or 140cid Turbo four. All white with special lines and letters while inside, SVO style seats are a feature of all red interiors. The 20th anniversary edition of 1984 GT featured a new look for the Mustang, including a white monochromatic paint scheme and a thick "GT-350" strip. These lines are very reminiscent of the classic Shelby Mustang produced in the 1960s. One major mechanical revision to Mustang's anniversary involves a GT suspension. This revision was introduced as a running change in early 1984 for ALL GT Mustangs. The pivot point of the rear control arm is lowered 1/2-inch at the top and 1/4-inch at the lower end for enhanced suspension geometry. In addition, the quad shocks replaced the old-style traction rods and the rear anti-roll rod diameter increased to 0.79 inches (20 mm) compared to 0.67 inches (17 mm) in 1983. Other newcomers in 1984 were the automatic recognition over Drive (AOD) Transmission. This combination can only be purchased with 302 using the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) system, also called Central Fuel Injection (CFI). Optional 165 hp (123 kW) 5.0L engine with CFI and 4-speed AOD transmission package offered with axle ratio 3.27: 1. The 175Ã, hp (130Ã, kW) 4V version carried over 1983 is available only with manual T transmission -5. 4V 5-speed is available with axle ratio 3.08: 1. The 20th Anniversary GT350 edition is produced for 35 days of production. All production is believed to have been done in 35 batches starting on March 5, 1984 and ending in April 1984, there is one last Anniversary Mustang Convertible (TBI/CFI Automatic) Produced on June 12, 1984.

There was no official 25th Anniversary model from Ford in 1989, although this was reviewed with several designs on body modification and performance. In response Ford modified the horse badge running on the passenger side of the dashboard, declaring "25 Years" at the bottom of the badge. This badge was installed from April 1989 for one year, until April 1990, the model year of Warning. After April 1990, Ford kept the badge in place, without the "25 Year" section. Ford also added a "25 Year" watermark on the window sticker with a horse badge running during this time period.

In 1999, Ford produced the Special Mustang's 35th Anniversary Edition.

In 2003, Ford Produced the Centennial Edition of Mustang. Producing 1,323 Convertible models and only 717 Coupe models. Total production for this Centenial Edition is 2,040. This model came when Henry Ford declared when he made Model T "Any color in Black." The 100th Anniversary model only comes in black, and includes the Verona-wheat Imola premium leather surface in a two-tone parchment, and Mustang gets a premium GT package that includes a 17-inch wheel, anti-lock brakes and traction controls; dual exhaust; electric driver's seat with lumbar power support; steering wheel wrapped in leather; and Mach 460 AM/FM Stereo with six disc CD changer, as well as the 100th Anniversary badge on fenders and decklids and embossed on the seat. The Centennial package is an increase of $ 995.

In 2004, Ford produced the Mustang's 40th Anniversary Edition. As the $ 895 option is available in Standard and GT edition, coupe or convertible, it consists of 40th Anniversary badging, an interior enhanced with "40th Anniversary" mat, painted exterior folding mirror from Cobra model, convertible over tan (not canvas) fabric, Arizona Beige painted "Bullitt" wheels, and Arizona Beige stripes on hood, rods and lower bodysides. The birthday package is available at Crimson Red (exclusive for package), Oxford White or black. Ford produced 4,558 models of Crimson Red. Crimson Red, Ford "FX" paint code, also called Merlot on some other Ford models from 2002 to 2008. Most Anniversary package cars come with leather interior skin (tan). Some come with blacks. This may be a variation of Canada. This Canadian-only variation may also feature Cobra wheel 2003, no hood lines and 'Mustang' decals on the underside of the body panels under the door. In addition to two pre-production units, all Crimson Red vehicles were built from August to November 2003. Forty-one Crimson Red cars were shipped to Roush Industries for conversion to Roush Mustangs. This marks the end of this Mustang design, because the year 2005 led to a new model.

In 2009, Ford produced the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang.

The Mustang Warrior

2014 sees the introduction of the Mustang Warrior. Only 50 cars were produced and each was numbered on the doorstep. They are sold exclusively to military personnel serving overseas. The cars come in both V6 and GT trim packages. They are offered with automatic transmission and 6-speed in Deep Impact Blue, Black and Silver. Ford added the FP8 performance package, an upgraded Ford Racing Control Package and a Raxiom smoking head and fog lamps. Most buyers do not see their cars for several months because they choose not to send them abroad. There is a group of owners who are here: Mustang Warrior Owners Forums

Variant Racing

FR500

The name FR500 describes the Mustang racing variant based on the S197 2005 to 2009 chassis. Ford Racing is designed and built "turn-key," a competition using cars without a VIN number (Serial Numbers is used instead). However, the C197 chassis from 2005 to 2009 year models can be used to build the FR500S or FR500C variants. The FR500S features a racing version of Ford's 320 HP Modular 4.6L output engine (brakes/cranks) paired to a Tremec T56R 6-speed transmission, while the FR500C features a 5.01 "R50 Engine" Cammer sending 420 hp (310 kW), via the Tremec T56R. FR500 racing cars vary greatly depending on which series of racing they are designing. In addition, different sanctions agencies have requested changes to be made into the original "spec" of FR500. For example, the FR500C variant is homologized in, the current Grand Am series

While the part may be sourced to turn the Simbire S197 Mustang into a racing car of the "S" or "C" FR500 specification, the Ford Racing moves into the new Boss 302 "S" and "R" variants in 2012. Regardless, many FR500-based cars still found competing at all levels of street racing competitions, with NASA American Iron, SCCA Touring Class, Trans Am Series, and SCCA World Challenge Pro Racing, to name a few.

Boss 302

For 1969-70, The Boss 302 was produced for the Trans-Am racing series. This became the most popular Ford Mustang Boss. For 2012, the FR500 is replaced by a racing variant of the Mustang Boss 302. There are two variants, Boss 302R (Racing) for use in IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and Boss 302S (Sprint) for other racing series such as SCCA Pirelli World Challenge GTS class.

Boss 351

Introduced in November 1970, the Boss 351 Mustang became one of the latest high performance models of the Mustang line. It is based on the SportsRoof Mustang Sports model and replaces both Boss 302 and Boss 429 models. The 351 Boss machine is a 351 Cleveland four barrel engine with a mechanical cam, a solid lifter, a compression ratio of 11.0: 1, an aluminum intake, and a main bearing block of 4 bolts. It was topped with a Ford 750 CFM carburetor 4 all-new barrel. The Boss 351 engine produces 330 horsepower at 5,400 RPM.

Boss 429

The Boss 429 Mustang debuted in January 1969. Built mainly to allow Ford to campaign a special machine on the NASCAR race circuit. The NASCAR Rules state that for every "trick" or machine section to be considered legal, it must be installed on at least 500 cars sold to the public. The Boss 429 engine is rated over 370 horsepower. It features an aluminum head, with large, intake drains and a free flowing exhaust, a crescent-shaped combustion chamber, and a large large valve arranged at an angle so that the intake valve is close to the intake manifold and the exhaust valve is close to the exhaust manifold. The standard 735 CFM Holley carburetor is mounted on a high intake manifold.

Initial Concepts

Concept Ford Mustang I 1962 (First Ever Concept)

The Ford Mustang I is a small, mid-engined (4-cylinder), open two-seater body with an aluminum body, which started life as a design exercise and eventually became the famous Ford Mustang ancestor. Despite sharing some design elements with the final production vehicle, it lends its name to the line.

1963 Ford Mustang II

The Ford Mustang II is a small, front-wheeled (V8), open-engined (V8) concept car made by Ford Motor Company in 1963. Although it has the same name as the first-generation Mustang, the four Mustang II seats are similar to the variants the final production which will appear in 1964, is intended primarily for automatic exhibition circuitry. After debuting at the 1963 Watkins Glen Grand Prix, Mustang II had a short life span as a show car before being relegated to the "test mule" task. The only example still exists, though it is kept in the Detroit History Museum.

Ford Mustang Mach III 1993 concept

Inaugurated in 1993 at the Detroit International Auto Show, this concept gives us a peek into the future of Mustang. While not all are approaching the design for the actual 1994 production model, it offers Mustang's fanaticism some insights and hints on where Ford will go with their flagship. It's powered by a supercharged 4.6L DOHC V-8 supplying 450 hp (336 kW).

Ford Mustang GT 2004 concept

The 2004 Concept Mustang GT coupe and convertible were imported at the 2003 North American International Auto Show. They were designed after the 2004 Mustang production was completed to measure the public reaction to the design.

Mustang design was created from the beginning, the first in 23 years. However, the latest version relies heavily on the design of both the 1967-1968 Mustang and the Shelby GT 350/GT500. Ironically, the original Mustang is an American interpretation of European design aimed at the youngest and fastest growing market segment - Baby Boomers - while the latest version interprets American design through European lenses for aging Baby Boomers.

The 2-seater Mustang GT is powered by 400 hp (300 kW) supercharged 4.6L V-8, mated to 6-speed manual in coupe and 5-speed automatic transmission in convertible. The hood has a twin spoon placed on a U-shaped channel, on top of it with a separate body color panel. It extends the hood section, creates a customized character line that flows into the top of the instrument's double cowl, and provides the cool air that supercharged V8 channels.

Important features of the Mustang GT include 20-inch wheels, forward-leaning noses, and side scoops. For the first time in nearly 40 years of the existence of the Mustang, the spoon is an integrated design element that creates a triangular opening, and flows forward along the lower body line.

The interior is trimmed with red leather, black accents, brushed aluminum, and is bordered by a parody with a red leather racing seat covering black shapes on an aluminum mat. Similarly, the dash pad "eyebrow" ignores metal bands containing gauges and vents, and a red bottom.

The tail divides the lamp into three units on either side of the big badge that reminds the cap of the original Mustang filler. There is a resemblance to the top of the tail lamp with the back of an Australian Capri submarine in the early 1990s.

2005 Mustang GT-R Concept

The GT-R is Ford's concept to signal the focus on the racing market. The concept car has a new 5.0 "Cammer" V8 engine with 440Ã, hp (328 kW) and a wider body. The color of Valencia Orange is inspired by Grabber Orange 1970 Mustang Boss 302 Trans-Am racing car. The main design changes from the basic models include the GT-R wheels, Brembo brakes, Pirelli slicks, and a more aggressive look.

The concept of Giugiaro Mustang

At the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford debuted the Giugiaro Mustang concept car. It was designed by the Italian car design company, Italdesign, and headed by Fabrizio Giugiaro. Italdesign, headed by senior Giorgetto Giugiaro, is famous for designing the Chevrolet Corvette Moray 2003 concept as well as the Ferrari GG50 and 1965 Bertone Mustang concept, becoming the first European-style car to debut internationally in America after World War II. The Italian design company has a long history of car design starting from Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Volkswagen, Mazda, Lotus, Maserati and Bugatti.

"When we saw the new Mustang, we knew two things: It was the best we had seen from the beginning, and we had to get one hand," said Fabrizio Giugiaro, style director of Italdesign - Giugiaro SPA "We still believes that it is important to show pure automotive practice in a style that interprets key models that reflect the history and image of important brands.
